I Hurt My Trigger Finger!

I took the dog up to the regional park to the off leash area today. She and the neighbor dog had a great time running all over the hills. It was nice to see them really running and getting some quality exercise. But the draw back to taking Sally there is that there are alot of huge burrs in one section. There is a low place where a pond often forms. In the dry months, the pond dries up and we are left with weeds, most of which have huge burrs. Sally's fur is just long enough to attract the burrs. The burrs get wound tightly in her beard and leg hair. I brought her home today and spent a good half hour pulling burrs out of her hair. My fingers are sore from grabbing the stickers. She had so many wound up in her beard, and I couldn't hold her head still enough with one hand, so I asked my neighbor to hold her head while I de-burred her. I know it wasn't any more pleasant for her than it was for me. I was tempted to cut them out, but I do like that she has a beard. :) But typing will be a little painful for awhile while I recover from pulling stickers.

You need a pair of leather garden gloves! That's what I use to pull weeds, because you never know when one will have a sticker on it at my house.

That's what I was going to say, Nene! I have the same problem with weeds and they really do hurt! I'm sorry, Delirious! Hopefully it gets feeling better soon.

I usually pick up burrs all over my socks running off-trail through the hills from late fall until about now, when the winter rains start knocking them down. They won't come clean in the washer, so it is a tedious hand washing process to get them out. It needs a heavy duty brush too.

The problem with using leather gloves is that I can't pull the hair away from the burr with gloves one. I need bare fingers to untangle it. Maybe I can use one gloved hand to hold the burr, and the other to untangle the hair.

or you could use two leather thimbles!
