Observations After a Day at a Theme Park

My ten year old participated in a reading program this school year, and as a result earned a free ticket to Six Flags Marine World here in Northern California. Today I took him there to spend the day. Here are some of my observations:

--You know it will be a long day when, during the first ride of the day, you have to close your eyes for the entire ride.

--You can get something that very closely resembles whiplash from riding a roller coaster.

--It is possible to be more scared watching your child on a ride than to actually ride it yourself.

--An older lady who is well endowed, wearing a white t-shirt, but not wearing a bra, should not ride a water ride. (no, it wasn't me :P)

--When riding the bumper cars with your ten year old, do not let him drive

--You can ride a water ride at 11:00 in the morning, and still feel wet at 7:00 at night.

--It is possible for your stomach to touch your throat.

--Overheard conversation: Man 1 to friend: "Hey man, you should ride this kid ride, it's right up your alley. It's like an intense kid ride.". Man 2: "Yea, but intense kid rides are usually too intense for me!". (I identify with him)

--Elephants and Killer Whales are amazing creatures.

--Although it may not be the latest style, fanny packs are the best way to carry your belongings in a theme park.

--Taking a ten year old to a theme park is very expensive, but worth every penny.

I love amusement parks, but it is a bad sign that you only get to ride about 5 rides in an entire day because the line is 2 hours long for each one. We will be going to Disneyland in August. Love waiting in line with cranky kids and husbands for hours.... good stuff!!

I generally don't like going to theme parks, but you're right, seeing the kids have a great time totally makes it worth the price of admission.

I've found out that yes, you do outgrow theme parks.

I don't outgrow them! I would love to go to Disneyland or Six Flags - with no kids!

Sorry, I was wrong. We are going to Disneyworld. I am so used to saying "land" since it is closer. I like going, but my husband doesn't and he whines a lot. He is worse than the kids!!
