More About Telephones

I'm still thinking about telephones after my last post, and wanted to share this experience.  When I was young, I once got a prank phone call.  (I hope I'm not repeating myself, I did a search and couldn't find a post about this.)  I was in Junior high, so probably about 13 years old.  The voice on the other end was difficult to understand.  What I thought they were saying was, "I like your garage."  I said, "You like my garage?"  They said "Yes."  Then after I didn't respond again, they said, "Do you know what that means?"  Still puzzled about why they would like my garage, I said, "I guess not."  They said, "Never mind." and hung up.  :)  I'm thinking this may be the best way to deal with prank or obscene phone calls.....

I occasionally have calls from people who miss-dial. Living alone, they can be a nuisance or a chance for fun.

One day the phone rang and on answering, I was asked: Is Joe there?

Being in a giddy mood I asked the caller to hold on while I checked. Placing the phone noisily on the counter, and loudly walking across the floor and out of the room, I waited a couple of minutes.

When I picked up the phone, I said rather breathlessly "I checked under the bed and he is not there!"

The caller clicked off and I never heard from him again. LOL!

Am I bold?

I am zapped. How could someone say they liked your garage? Some admirer must have lost courage after hearing your voice.

thankfully my mind isn't dirty enough to figure out what they might have been really saying lol - thankfully you couldn't either :) last weekend on sat night i got two calls kinda late like 9:30 and 10:30 from a number I didn't recognize (and if i don't recognize it i don't answer) then early the next morning i got another call and a text - they were looking for people who weren't me so i texted back that they had the wrong number about 10 minutes later they called again, i answered and there was a pause on the other end, so i just said, "You seriously do have the wrong number" and hung up.

Confession: I did figure out in later years what he really said. "Garage" was what I heard, not what he said.....
