My first project here is to try to make a "flower shawl". I saw this one on pinterest (I also follow the maker's blog. Lucy from the Attic.) and just wanted to try to make something similar. However I am not up to her skill level yet, so mine will be much simpler. Maybe some day....
Here are the flowers laid out on my coffee table. I want to make a triangular shawl, so thought this would be a good way to lay them out. My daughter laughs at me because I've laid them out probably a dozen times trying to figure out the best way to arrange the flowers. But I need to learn how to join them. I will take a look at pinterest to learn how.
I ran out of yarn at one point, but I had some other yarn that I had bought to use somehow. So while I was waiting to go get some new yarn, I started a second project with the other colors. I wanted to learn to make a granny square. So here is the first batch of granny squares I have made. Eventually I will get enough to make a small afghan. It's fun to learn, and at least I'm being sort of productive. :) Notice my carved bamboo crochet hook.

This one is a little more complicated.
Good for you!
I think it is great that you are learning that!
Oh thanks Grannymar! I'm definitely going to check out those links! I'm about ready to piece my scarf. I think I'm going to make it rectangle instead of triangle though. Last minute change of plans. :)
I used to crochet a long time ago and was really fanatic about it for quite awhile. When my mother-in-law died, I almost took back the huge afghan that I crocheted for her. She used it to cover her old couch that was wearing out for several years until she could get a new couch. Shows you how big it was. I quit crocheting when I started having problems with my wrist. Anyway, I love your colors too, so when you finish make sure you post a pic!
That looks so cute!! I love it!! I love granny square stuff too!
