Friday Loose Bloggers Consortium: The Three Last People

According to my understanding, the topic today has to do with the last three people I have spoken to, excluding family and household members. If I don't have that right, you can give me a bad grade for today's post. :) (Not that we are grading.)

Two of the last three people I have talked to were related to the same subject. We have a woman in our church who is right in the middle of treatment for colon cancer. She lives in another city, but came to our city to stay with her daughter while she is going through chemo and radiation. Because she is a member of our church, we have tried to visit her, and offer help to their family.

I am currently the Relief Society president, which means that I oversee the compassionate service given by our congregation. Sometimes I personally get involved, and other times I delegate. This time I decided to delegate since this woman is spanish speaking. She is from a south American country, and I was able to find a member of our congregation (Ward) who is also from that country. I asked her if she would visit this woman regularly, and keep me aprised of any help she might need. Today I called this woman to get an update. I also called the woman's daughter to find out how she is doing.

Unfortunately, although chemo and radiation are very effective treatments, they are very difficult to experience. This woman was in the hospital for a few days because of the effects of her treatment. I was happy to learn last night that she was able to return to her daughter's home on Sunday. I think she is done with the worst of the treatment, but she isn't out of the woods yet.

The third person I talked to is one of my "counselors" in the Relief Society. You could think of her as a vice president. She oversees the Sunday instruction, as well as some other aspects of our organization. She is my right hand, and I couldn't fulfill this position without her! She is also a good sounding board, and listens to a lot of my venting. That's probably the best service she offers to me!

I feel very lucky that I was able to come up with three people to include in this post. I actually don't like to talk on the phone, and I've been so busy with all that is going on in my life that I don't have time to do much else. I wonder who the other consortium members have been talking to. :)

You seem to lead a very busy life right now. Will it be the same when you go to China, or will you have more time for yourself to travel and be a visitor?

Three very productive talks indeed.

Second try, LOL. I couldn't read the last challenge to my identity and made the mistake of going for the audio.

You shine caring for the flock, Delirious. Marvelous service to others.

Delirious--what a wonderful support system you have. In India family and friends provide this shoulder. My best friend's husband is in the ICU--for nearly six weeks--and one of us calls her everyday to offer her our support. She enjoys the SMS's that I send and keeps reading them..mostly inspirational messages.

Your last three conversations shine a light for all to see, D., no matter the connection.
