Friday Loose Bloggers Consortium: Rediscovery

Once again, another difficult topic for me. :) At first thought, my mind is going in two different directions with this. The first direction is about how we rediscover things that we have loved, and subsequently forgotten. In particular, I am thinking of hobbies and interests. It does seem that sometimes our lives get so busy that we let things we enjoy go by the wayside. We stop pursuing an interest because other more demanding things take over our time. I think this has been happening to me a lot lately because of my current church position. I have far less free time than I have had in the past. But maybe that encroachment on my free time has made me think more carefully about how I spend the little time that I have. Recently I have been getting back to the interests that I love, and have rediscovered how enjoying they can be. There is still one interest that I haven't been able to get back to, and that is photography. I love to go for walks at the nearby regional park, and take pictures as I walk. If I just go walking for exercise, I get tired easily, and don't want to go very far. But if I have my camera, I forget that I am exercising, and I am totally intent on taking pictures. I can walk for miles without noticing fatigue. That is one interest that I need to rediscover.

My other thought with this topic has to do with years gone by. "Vintage" is very popular among the younger generations. They are learning to appreciate the styles and designs that I grew up with. They are discovering for themselves what we enjoyed in our youth. They are also learning to appreciate the television shows that we enjoyed. It's fun to see them discover things that we loved when we were young.

Hmm..I wonder what the other consortium members had to say about this topic. Here are some links if you would like to see for yourself. :)

It is difficult to find time when you hold a place of responsibility such as yours.

Photography has always been a favorite hobby for me. I marvel at how far we have come from the dark room and black and white photos to the digital wonders of no film and Adobe Workshop.

Much to my chagrin, I have written about next week's topic by mistake. Please accept my apology. I promise to write another next Friday on the same subject. Oh my, I think my Catholic guilt and my need for penance has just set in. LOL

Walking in company is easy. Since I no longer have a pram to push or dog to walk, I take my camera with me every time I go out. I feel encouraged to go round the next corner or bend in the road. Some of my best photos are pure chance. Others make great blog fodder.

Given the condition of today's music, we don't have much of a choice other than listening to old music.

Vid, I think that shows your intelligence that you don't go in for much of the modern day music. There are some good groups/ songs, but much of it is just noisy. :)

Photography is one of my as yet unrediscovered pleasures. Sometimes (ha!) when I sort things out sufficiently, I'll post some of my old ones.

You would have noticed that photography is one of the items on my intention list. I intend getting proficient in it sufficiently enough to be able to post some decent photographs on my blog posts. But it will not be rediscovery for me. It will just be a new hobby.
