The Ones That Got Away

These turkeys proudly paraded down my street today as if to thumb their beaks at us and say, "Ha ha, you didn't eat us!" One of them puffed up his feathers, but my card was full and I missed the shot before I could delete some pictures off the card. :( They wandered down the street, pecking and eating berries off of bushes as they went.

I'm wondering if any of you know how to tell the males from the females. I'm pretty sure I knew which ones were the males, but it wasn't easy to tell! I'm not sure, but I think the males had a longer wattle.

Do the turkeys roam free?

I was wondering the same thing? Where did they come from?

These are wild turkeys that live in the hills, but this past year they have been wandering in to our neighborhoods. It's pretty weird to see them walking down the street. lol

They do like to taunt us humans.
