Conversations With Old Women

I went to D.U.P. today. (daughters of the Utah pioneers) Here are a few of the conversations we had. Now you can see what keeps me going back. ;)

Conversation 1:
old woman 1: So we are in charge of the dessert for the upcoming jubilee.
old woman 2: Did you decide which cake we will make?
old woman 1: I think we will go with the pineapple cake. I think that will be good.
me: What kind of cake is that?
ow 1: It's one of those poke cakes (you poke holes in the top of the cake and pour the sauce over it) with pineapple and whipped cream.
ow 2: So you think that will go with what they are serving?
ow 1: Yes, I think it will be good.
ow 2: I think you should tell them the official name of that cake.
ow 1: Okay, well, it's called "Better than sex cake".
(laughter..)
ow 3: I have a recipe like that, but it has chocolate instead of pineapple.
me: My recipe would have to have chocolate if it were going to be better than sex.
ow 4: Oh, I have a recipe like that, but it's called Robert Redford cake.
:)

Conversation 2:

Older woman 1: (in telling another story) It was about the time my mother died.
older woman 2: Oh, I didn't know your mother died.
ow 1: She died about a year and a half ago. She was 96.
ow 2: I had no idea.
ow 1: She had moved to the same town as my younger brother so she could watch out for him. She lived a long life, and was ready to die. One day she was given a blessing wherein she was told that she could go any time she wanted. So that night the nurse came and brought her some dinner, but she refused it. She decided that she wanted to die that night. So she laid there and waited, but nothing happened. Finally she started to get hungry, so she ordered some soup.
(laughter..)
ow 1: Then a week or so later, she was laying in bed and my brother was rubbing her feet. Suddenly he noticed that she wasn't responding. She had passed away. That's how I want to go.
me: With someone rubbing your feet? ;)

Conversation 3:
old woman teacher telling story: This pioneer woman (I forgot the name, and I'm paraphrasing the story) was raising silk worms so that she could have silk to make cloth. It was General conference time and she really wanted to attend, but had some silk worms that were close to hatching. Her incubator wasn't working properly, so she didn't know what to do. Finally she took the silk worms and wrapped them in a cloth and stuffed them in her bosom. She went to conference and enjoyed the wonderful music. There were wonderful talks also. But just as the music started for the closing song, she felt a tumult in her bosom, and knew the silk worms were hatching. She left immediately and got home just in time. She got a nice batch of silk worms.

ROFL well, we must agree that it is the best way to pass away: with someone rubbing our feet. LOL...you are great.

Aaah, I see why you keep going back: those old ladies are fantastic!
I also enjoy the wisdom of Ancient Humans: not only I learn a lot from them but I also have huge amounts of fun!

Cheers
