Useful Tip #4,523: Drawing Blood

Well, actually I don't know how many tips I've given. But this one is good! Do you have trouble giving blood because they can't find a vein? I have learned a thing or two this past little while that can help. First of all, if you know you are going to have to give blood, hydrate yourself. A watery vein is a happy vein. :)

Secondly, if the technician has a hard time finding your vein, tell him/her to use TWO tourniquets. Yes, two. I had to have some blood drawn today and the technician told me to pass this on in the future to anyone drawing my blood. They always have a hard time finding a vein, but when she did this, she got it first try!

Happy blood-letting! (Should I have posted this closer to Halloween?)

you know what else I figured out? to stop telling them it's hard to find my veins - I think it just makes them even more nervous about it LOL (also if they are having problems I do tell them it's okay to take it out of my hand, they've done this before, it hurts a little more but at least they can get it)
