What's in a Name?

I was reading recently in the book, "The Survivor's Club" about studies that show that our names do have an effect on our longevity. For example, if someone had a last name of "Loser", they would die a few years earlier than people with a name such as "Winner". There was some question about the veracity of this study, but I do have to wonder if there is some truth to it.

So my brain started thinking of people I know, and wondering about their names. I know some people whose last name is Chatterly. Do you think that will influence them to talk more? :) And what about Governor Hogg from Texas that named his daughter "Ima Hogg"? I have a friend who married a man named "Baker". I don't know if she can bake or not, but she doesn't claim to be a very good cook. Mostly, the study showed that people with unflattering names just didn't live as long. But I have to wonder if other kinds of names also influence people's behavior. Do you think your name has influenced your personality?

I read somewhere that my first name means Good Listener, and I kind of took that to heart ages ago. I most definitely think that has influenced my personality. Of course, Good Listener isn't my name. Just what it means.
