No Man is an Island

No man is an island? Really? But can I be an island if I want to? This week my sons and husband have been gone to scout camp, and my daughter has been working. I've been alone most of the time. Guess what.....I love it! A friend on facebook heard my family is gone and suggested we have a girl's night out at my house. I didn't reply because I'm such a hermit that I'm loving having all this solitude! Don't get me wrong, I love my family. But having all my time to myself without having to worry about anyone else has truly been a vacation! Well, I haven't really had all my time free. I've been taking care of friend's houses and animals and that has taken up a big chunk of my time. But I guess I'm just a loner because I really have enjoyed all of the alone time. Can I be an island with a ferry? I'll go out once in awhile to civilization, but live by myself, okay?

I know what you mean. My husband went fishing today and left at 7:30 am and told me he wouldn't be back until dark. I did have lunch with Amber and 2 granddaughters, but now I'm home, on the internet, and enjoying a bit of solitude that I haven't had in awhile since my husband has been on sabatical since May. :0)

I may not be an island, but in situations like that, I definitely become island-y...

Hi D!

Yes, a Man can be an Island; if he/she chooses to.

I hope you enjoy your time alone, cause soon they'll be back ;).

Cheers

And why not? I actually envy you. I wish that I could get a few days like that!

You are enjoying it because it is not the norm. I can enjoy free time, too, but I never want to be by myself on an extended basis, because it is lonely. Trust me, I know. I have an empty nest and a husband who fights wildland fires, sometimes several weeks at a time. It feels pretty sad when you go 3 weeks and the only conversation you have is people saying hi at WalMart or church.
