Good Instincts

Last night as I was driving home, I passed a court that is a couple of blocks away from me. I saw two police cars with their lights flashing, and a bunch of guys sitting on the curb with their hands behind their backs. It looked to me like it had been a police chase, and the guys thought they could hide their car in the court behind another car. Luckily, those policemen were on their toes and spotted them. I passed on by, and headed toward my street. But then I saw a car up ahead that was parked by the school. There were a bunch of guys milling around the car, and some inside it. Something about the way they dressed, walked, and moved set up a red flag in my head. I wondered if they had been with the other car, and were waiting for them. They could have been totally unrelated to the car the police stopped, but even still, I knew something wasn't right. And it wasn't even like they were doing anything illegal that I could see.

As I turned the corner on to my street, I saw my policewoman neighbor sitting in her car in front of her house. I pulled up next to her and rolled down my window. She said something, and I asked her if she had seen the police cars in the court. I thought she answered me, but then I realized she was on the phone with the police. Dang those blue tooth devices...I can never tell if someone is talking to me or not. lol She hadn't seen the police cars in the court, but her red flag also went up when she saw that car full of guys parked on the street. She said they were acting very suspicious when she passed them, and were ducking their heads trying not to be seen. I told her she has good instincts.

I guess all of us had good instincts, including the THIRD neighbor who turned the corner and pulled up and rolled her eyes in direction of the suspicious car. I honestly don't know if those guys were up to anything illegal. I may never know. But this experience taught me that when your instincts tell you something isn't right, you should listen. Sometimes we think we are the only person who has that gut feeling. But when my two other neighbors had the same feeling, it confirmed to me that the "little voice" in our head usually has good reason for giving us caution warnings.

So did the cops go check out those guys?

I wonder if they were connected to the criminals - maybe it was a gang thing?

I trust my instincts. They have saved me from a lot of ticklish situations about which I came to know only later.

Hi D!

I couldn't agree more with you: it is vital to follow that little voice inside (I call it a warning from the angels).

We receive signs and warnings everyday but most people are too fast in discarding them (unfortunately).

Have a blessed weekend, darling!
