President's Speech

I saw a copy of the President's speech yesterday. I just scanned it, but it looks pretty benign. But now I'm wondering why they made the video. In my mind, the video was not benign. I didn't see the connection between it and the speech.

I realized that when it really comes down to it, the main problem people are having is that they don't trust our President. He has tried to push socialized medicine on us. That equals socialism. We don't want socialism. The speech was released only 24 hours in advance. Who knows but that he adjusted it because of the response of the American public. Sorry...I just don't trust this president.

I don't either.

I think the reason there was a big flap about the speech was because it was going to be live and no one knew for sure what he would say. And that is probably why he released the text of his speech.

But when in the history of this nation have the people ever questioned what the president would say? See...the people of this country really don't trust him.

Do you think the speeach that was released on Monday was the original version? I don't think so. It got reworked over the weekend to be more palatable...at least that's what I think. But what bothers me is that it was an afront to parents. The administration should have come out from the first and told parents why he wanted to talk to the children in the schools and what the content was...before being called on it.

I agree with you Carma...I think some fast readjustment went on after the reaction of the public. Frankly, I don't think I would have been as alarmed if they hadn't released the video. To me the video was leftist propaganda. It was subtle, but how are children to know that everything mentioned in the video isn't necessarily what their parents agree with?

The other thing I keep thinking is that if principals here in California...one of the most liberal states....hold off on showing the president's speech, then even the liberals aren't trusting this president.

On the other hand, my neighbor kept her kids home from school today to listen to the speech and was very offended that the principals didn't broadcast it live. I have to admit, parents wouldn't have blinked twice about George Bush addressing the children, so why are parents upset now? Plain and simple, as I said before, we don't trust him.

I think people just look for reasons to get mad. I think its awesome that he addressed our future like they were important.
