Intelligent Design: Post Written By Guest Blogger
My son shared this with me on Facebook. This is something he wrote up, after reading some interesting discussions on the internet. He is studying Electrical Engineering in college, and just finished some computer programming classes. I thought he made some good points so wanted to share it with you.
"I found this searching the internet.
It made an immense amount of sense to me.
The background for this riddle was a nearly ferocious scientific forum discussion.
The author (Perry Marshall) challenged anyone to find an example that disproved his thesis.
There were several arguments brought up, but no plausible answer to oppose the idea of intelligent design.
So anyways, its something to think about. Especially those Athiests out there who believe the world, and life was created randomly and that all you are is a product of infinity.
The starting point of this discussion is my central thesis, which is:
1) DNA is not merely a molecule with a pattern; it is a code, a language, and an information storage mechanism.
2) All codes are created by a conscious mind; there is no natural process known to science that creates coded information.
3) Therefore DNA was designed by a mind.
If you can provide an empirical example of a code or language that occurs naturally, you've toppled my proof. All you need is one.
To add a little insight to this: Think about any INFORMATION that is CODED. It does not occur randomly. His challenge is to think of some signal that was not produced at some level by a conscious mind. If you have taken any object oriented programming classes you'd understand the idea of objects, and that they can be re-used by upper level parent classes. Once you program an object class (in this example a HUMAN) you have created CODE. And this code can do anything you want it to pretty much. Replicate use artificial intelligence anything. So what I'm trying to get at is, is your body just random chance? Or is your body just a Program in a sense. All computer programs eventually decompose to a binary system of one's and zero's representing on and off. So how much harder is it to think that a human body is designed by 4 little Chemicals. ATCGGCTAA or 1001011010 :)"
My son also posted this link if you are interested in reading the discussions yourself.
