I Love You to Death

The other day I was going up to my front door and noticed a bug on the plant by my door. As I neared it, I could see it was a praying mantis. I looked closer and saw that there was another bug there too. I couldn't make out if it was a male praying mantis trying to mate with the female, or if it was some other kind of bug attacking it. It didn't really look like a praying mantis, the head looked different. My neighbor is interested in all kinds of creatures, so I called her over to see. I had never seen praying mantises mate before, and I wasn't even sure what a male looked like. When she came over, I told her that I wasnt' sure if it was two praying mantises mating because his head didn't look the same. I wondered if it was another bug attacking a praying mantis. She studied it for a minute or two, then said, "Oh....oh...oh...I know what it is, but you may not want me to tell you. I heard this just the other day. She bit his head off". I finally understood why his head didn't look right....

Yeah, sadly that male mantis apparently wasnt old enough to know that woman "snap" and bite your head off for all sorts of pointless crazy things. They say a woman president would be a more peaceful time... i dont know...

My studies have revealed something you may find of interest in regards to the praying mantis; mantis is Greek for “prophet”. So in a sense this praying prophet may be “praying” to decapitate its mate.

I have met some husbands who insist that they have been through the same experience, although my wife is much too gentle for such behavior.
