You Know You Are Really Bored When.....

You know you are really bored when you are willing to read this entire post. Recently I was sitting absent mindedly feeling my throat when I noticed a lump. I absentmindedly reached for the opposite side of my throat to see if I could feel the same "muscle" on that side, but found there wasn't one there. Having had a mother and brother who both had growths taken off their thyroids, I decided I needed to make a doctor's appointment. If you have read my "health bulletins" in the past, you know that I often just come away feeling like a hypochondriac when I make doctor appointments. So I was a little nervous about this one, but no, I wasn't imagining it. Yes, I do have a growth. I had an ultrasound to determine if it is actually on my thyroid, or another part of my throat. I still haven't gotten back the results from that. But I expect to be getting an appointment with an endocrinologist any day. My bet is that they will remove it soon, hopefully without removing any of my thyroid at the same time.

As a routine, the doctor decided to also do a blood test and a urine test. I did get those results back. They said that I have a strep virus. How can I have a strep virus?? I don't feel sick...I don't look sick. (I know, that might be a matter of opinion.) In fact, I think overall I'm pretty healthy. But as I write this, I feel a headache coming on. Dang, I don't want to be sick.

Strep virus is very common and sometimes you don't get symptoms. I think "Better Safe Than Sorry" and I'm glad you went in to the Dr. That's what they are there for. :)
I hope it's nothing...and if it is something, I'm glad you went.

You can carry the strep virus without actually having strep throat.
