A Tribute to Laura

I was informed tonight that a friend of mine was killed by a drunk driver today. She, her finance, and son were struck by a drunk driver who was driving a Hummer. All three passengers were killed, but the drunk driver survived.

Laura will not have a public funeral, but I wanted to pay tribute to her anyway. She was quite young, in her early twenties, and was getting close to graduating from college. She had a promising career and family life ahead of her. She and her fiance were planning to adopt a child.

Laura's life was a testimonial to the ability of the human spirit to survive. Her early years were filled with neglect and abuse. Eventually she was finally taken from her neglectful mother and placed in foster care. She went on to excel in school, especially in debate. She also played in the band and excelled in music. She worked with troubled youth, and children with learning and psychological difficulties. She was a dilligent college student and did very well, even despite recent serious illness.

I spoke with her foster mother who asked me to pray for her soul. I told her that Laura had a very good soul, so she shouldn't worry about her. Laura was loving, and accepting, and caring. She was sensitive to those who have been abused, or hurt. She looked out for the under dog, and spoke up for those without a voice. She knew what it meant to not have a voice, both physically and emotionally. Her life was full of goodness, she will be greatly missed by her friends.

Hey D!

My condolences!
It is always a sad moment whenever a fellow human departs, and it's even sadder when they go so young.

I hope the Light guides Laura!

I can't even say anything, all I can do is cry. I will be in prayer for all those who love her, and all those who were deprived because they never met her. Dear God, he was driving a Hummer, they never had a chance.
