I wrote on my facebook that I face planted in Kragen's Auto Parts parking lot last night. I was coming out of the store, and it was dark. I didn't see the cement parking block in front of the car and I tripped on it. I went to my knees, then hit on my elbows, then my wrists, then on my chin, then on my mouth and nose. My first concern was my teeth, but they weren't damaged. My head ached a little, but I didn't think I had any serious injury. Thank goodness it was dark and no one watched! :) I got in the car and just sat for a minute to take stock and see if I had any serious injury. Everything seemed to be working fine, so I drove away. I looked in the mirror as I drove because my nose hurt and I wanted to see if there was any road rash. My lip was cut, but that's all I could see. As the night went on, a bruise popped up on my chin, but even a day later, I still don't have any other bruises. I feel pretty blessed because that could have been really bad.
I was thinking about it, and I think one reason I didn't get hurt worse was kind of a drunken man syndrome. As you may know, many alcoholics survive serious car accidents. How many times have you heard of a drunk driving accident where the driver survived, but everyone else in the other car was killed? It's very common because the drunk driver's muscles are totally relaxed, and he doesn't tense up on impact. Now, I wasn't drunk, (never touched alcohol in my entire life) but I was really relaxed. Why was I relaxed you ask? Because it was so dark, I didn't see the ground coming up to hit me! lol As a matter of fact, I was really surprised when my face hit the ground because I didn't think I was that close. I think if I had braced my face, I might actually have had more damage. Well, at least that's my theory, and I'm stuck with it. But mainly I think I was just blessed. I know it sounds like a simple trip and fall, but I really am thankful that I didn't break any bones or teeth.

Dot did the same thing a few years ago, except she broke all of her front teeth and had to have them all capped. Lots of $$$$to get that one fixed...you are lucky that it didnt do more damage....Love ya lots, and be safe.....:Lonehawk
Ouch! I'm glad you're okay. That could've ended up being very painful and costly if teeth had been broken.
You just thought Dad was having all the fun and decided to join him. :o)
goodness! I'm glad you weren't hurt any worse!
Yes, being blessed is the only answer.
Poor you D! It sounds like a very painful experience.
When I was a child I started running and looking backwards while I was doing so. As I turned forward I ran smack into a concrete lamp-post.
In my case the solution was simple - always look forward when running.
In your case I think the solution is equally simple - stay off the Gin ;-)
I am so glad you didn't have more serious injuries!
