Friday Loose Bloggers Consortium: Kids

I put off writing this post until the last minute, and then at the last minute, I didn't have a minute to spare.  So I'm a little slow, but I'm finally here!  :)

I keep thinking about a news article I read this week about a woman who says she regrets having children.  She said they have inconvenienced her life, and that she feels they are parasites.  She wishes she had never made the decision to have children.

This is so incredibly sad to me, and I feel so sorry for those little children.  I feel sorry for them that they have a mother who doesn't appreciate them.  I feel sorry for them that years from now they will read about this, and relive this pain all over again.  I feel sorry for them that they weren't born in to a home where they would be cherished.

This comes on the tail of another conversation I have been having along similar lines with other internet bloggers.  How sad it is that we live in a world that tells women that being a mother isn't fulfilling and valued. I find it sad that we live in a world where little children are being raised by daycare.  I know some women don't have a choice, but many do, and choose money over raising their children.  They don't fully understand their role in their children's lives.  They don't fully appreciate the influence they have on their children.

Here I am, at 51 years of age, and I am looking back and wonder if I did enough for my children.  I did what I could in the moment, but you know how you look back at your life and can't remember everything, and wonder.  But really, I can't change the past anyway.  But it makes me want to tell all of the young mothers to really make the most of every moment with their children.  And never underestimate their role in their lives.

Check out what the other consortium members have to say about kids.

I made a deliberate decision to stay home and bring up my own daughter. Why would I hand her over to someone else? The fact that we were living in a country where bombs and bullets were the norm, made me more determined to be at the school gate each day to meet her. We learned together, had fun and became the close friends we are today. A child is a gift.

I share your disgust. I know of two women who regret having had children. just last evening I had two children visit me who are subnormal because the mother is not giving them the attention and love that they require. These two kids were loath to leave my place where they had a grand time just being children with adults who could give them the attention and love that they crave.

I dread to think of their future unless we can do something about the mother who refuses to acknowledge that she needs counseling.

I loved having my seven children and wish I had had more. The grandchildren are fun, too.

I do not believe that it is a coincidence that the adversary is focusing on women at the same time the Lord is putting more emphasis on the youth.
