Name Your House

For years now I've been blogging my discontent at not being able to come up with a name for my house.  Today I had a great idea that I want to share with any who face this same dilemma.  I don't think I'm the only romantic in the world that wants to live in a place called "Wuthering Heights", "Green Acres", or "Tara".  But every time I try to use my creativity to come up with a name, I hit a wall.  So here is my idea, patterned after some Facebook posts I've seen.  Those posts usually have to do with coming up with your Indian name, or your Disney name.  Anyway, it's kind of the same idea, except I'm leaving it totally up to you to choose the one you like the best.

So here is how it works.  Simply choose your favorite word from column one, and and your favorite word from column two, and voila, you have your new house name.  :)

COLUMN 1  (adjectives)

Breezy        Sunny
Misty          Shimmering
Amber        Shady
Dawn          Autmn
Green          Silver

COLUMN 2 (geographical location)

Vale            Dale
Valley          Hills
Heights        Lane
Woods        End
Acres          Fields

CHOICE 3

My last idea is to choose a more vague term such as the following:

Serendipty      Solitude
Epiphany         Wonderment

Good luck!  I would be interested to hear what you come up with.  :)

Hi D,

If I were romantic, I would choose Woods End.
By the way, I love Wuthering Heights (the book, the movies, the song).
I hope you managed to find the name for your house :).

Cheers

In India, the native languages come up with a wide variety of options and are often based on Sanskrit. They usually indicate gratitude to God for the gift of the home. We rarely come across English names even for the highly Anglicized. You will get an idea here: http://www.indianhindunames.com/house-home-villa-names.htm

We're still trying to come up with a name for our house. I'd kind of like it to go with where my house is situated or the scenery, so here's the scenario: My house sits on the edge of a cliff and overlooks the city. I can see all the way across the city to the mountain on the other side. Also we are on the west side, so we have the sun setting behind us. If anything comes to your mind - share!

Other compression members are often termed "columns" because of the similar stress conditions.
