After we left the tower, we went to a nearby "food street". It was amazing, and I can't wait to go back! I ate very simple foods, but it was all good. I had some "Re Gan Mian" which is noodles with sauce on them. Then I had a fried banana. Wow! Then I ate a bowl of fruit with condensed milk poured on top. There were so many other things I wanted to try, but didn't have the stomach room. We did buy some chewy sesame candy to bring home. It's one of our favorites!
The one picture below is of a man who found a statue that had a convenient holder for his noodles. :)
Oh, I wanted to add an embarrassing experience we had there. In one of the pictures you can see a large bell. They had some kind of deal where you could pay some money, and then have a chance to ring the bell. You would also be given some coins to throw in to a cup that was under the bell. I got the impression this was for good luck. There was an older woman standing trying to ring the bell, but she wasn't really using much effort. She was barely tapping the bell, so it wasn't ringing. I playfully called out, "Jia You!" which means "add oil". This is a saying the chinese use to urge someone on. A foreigner friend of mine was with us. She doesn't speak chinese, but is just starting to learn. When I said, "Jia you" to the woman, this friend began to YELL, "JIA YOU! JIA YOU!" Maybe "scream" would come closer to the way she yelled it. I guess if this were a life threatening situation, I would be happy for her enthusiasm. But in this situation, it was a little bit overkill, and quite embarrassing. My daughter and I slid behind some pillars to hide.... lol

Not sure my knees or ankle would cope with all those steps. What was the building like from the inside?
Wow! That is a really cool building!
GRannymar, the interesting thing about this building is that there isn't much to see on the inside. The main floor space consists of terracing on the outside to give a view of the land. There were a few gift shops and a restaurant I think. But the center was cut out with a huge mural made of tiles lining the entire wall all the way up to the top.
i'm envious of all the good food you get to eat! LOL
