Lost

I went on an outing with a friend today and got momentarily lost on the way home. She was visiting from out of town, and was staying at her sister's house in Rodeo. the embarassing thing is that Rodeo is a straight shot from my house. You just get on the freeway and keep going until you reach her exit. So getting lost is kind of embarassing. lol

After we had lunch together, and I dropped her off, I headed back to the freeway. The only thing I can think is that I was paying attention to the cities listed on the freeway sign, instead of the actual freeway number. There are more than one freeway that go to the same city. So when I saw the city name, I just exited and drove along my happy way.

I was really thinking about a lot of different things, and not really paying attention to the scenery as I drove. Suddenly I looked up and saw that I was turning a bend, and going over a bridge! I just kept saying out loud, "Oh my goodness, oh my goodness." I didn't even know what bridge it was! lol The bad part was that I had to pay $5 to get across because there wasn't any way to turn around. Bah humbug.

As I was crossing the bridge, I looked off to the side and saw a boat I recognized. My friend "Pipperdink" (online name) attended the Maritime Academy in Vallejo, and the ship I saw was their ship ported there. I heaved a sigh of relief, and knew that I was heading across the Cartinas bridge in to Vallejo.

Just to be safe, I pulled out my cell phone and called my husband. Good thing I did, because just as we were talking, I came to the exit that he told me I needed to take. From there, I could find my way home. Whew!

I do think I'm getting more brave as time goes on. There was a time I would have been totally stressed out. But this time I felt pretty confident that I could find my way home. The only thing was that I had to pay that extra 5 bucks. :S

I used to get all the time where I live, but I'm figuring it out now. However, when we go to California, I still use my GPS for everything.

When I lived in Dallas I never felt lost as long as I could find a major highway, I knew I could find my way to where I was going. :0)
