Yesterday morning as I was getting ready to leave for church, I had a thought that I should move my lap top from my night stand. I had the thought that the fan, that was sitting on the windowsill, might fall and hit my laptop. I have left my laptop there many times, and this thought about the fan had never occurred to me before. I decided that if I just made sure the fan was turned off when I left, then it wouldn't be blown out of the window. Also, it wasn't a windy day, so I didn't worry about the wind. I also thought I would move the laptop just in case, but I put it off til later. Then in my hurry to leave for church, I forgot to move the laptop.
When I came home from church, I found the laptop laying on the ground, with the fan on top of it. I thought it would probably be okay, but when I picked it up, I found that the corner of the computer frame had been broken off, and the power source connections had been pulled out of the computer. It was at this point that I really began mentally kicking myself for not listening to my premonition. But you shouldn't cry over spilled milk, so I began to plan for how I could try to get my computer repaired.
My husband took the computer, and took the bottom case off of it. He was able to reattach the power supply, and then just used some packing tape to tape the broken piece back on. Whew! It seems to be working fine, thank goodness.
As I sat here writing this, it occurred to me that it may not have been the wind that knocked down the fan. My cat has been coming to my window in the middle of the night, and has been scratching on the screen to ask to be let in. Over the past months, he has worn a hole through the screen. It is now big enough that he can fit through. When the fan is in the window, and is turned on, he doesn't try to come through. I think he must have tried to come through because the fan was turned off.
Have you ever had a premonition that you failed to heed? Or have you had a premonition that you acknowledged, and were glad you did?

Yes. They are usually about people and I make it a rule to try and get in touch with them. When I manage to do so, everything is fine. Alas if I am unable to make contact I hear sometime later that they are ill or gone to their reward.

Yes, I have had premonitions, on and off, all my life. However, and this is where logic as to your question "and were you glad you did" needs to kick in.
If you had taken heed of your premonition,ie moved your laptop, you'd never known whether your 'premonition' had been a true one or not. Interesting conundrum, don't you think?
As to your cat: In my experience cats have an uncanny way of weaving themselves round even the most fragile objects. Unlike a bull in a china shop.

Many. many premonitions, of both kinds. I heed most of them, but kick myself when I don't.
Yes, as it recently as what prompted my latest post on Standard Chartered Bank. I had the premonition that the system would have broken down and I would be charged a penalty. I escaped that just in the nick of time, but the saga continues.
Yes - I try to trust my instinct - and other people's - especially childrens'. Though as Ursula says, it can be hard to know if it was the right decision.
