Clean Hands, and a Pure Heart

My husband and I were out window shopping tonight and stopped in a store that had a lower level. As we were walking down the stairs, I grabbed on to the hand railing, and slid my hand down the rail without thinking. Suddenly I hit a sort of "gummy" spot. Ewww....gross. I can only imagine what kind of filth was smeared on that handrail. When we got to the bottom, I asked a sales clerk if they had a restroom there. She told me it was out of order. I told her what had happened, and that I needed to wash my hands. She just suggested I go to another store.

We left the store, and were still window shopping, but I couldn't stop thinking about my dirty hands. Suddenly we passed a store that very much interested my husband. It was a store devoted to shaving. They had all kinds of razors and shaving equipment. We looked around for a moment, and then I noticed that in the corner of the store they had a place set up for people to learn how to shave properly. And lo and behold, they had a sink! I asked the owner if I could wash my hands, and he agreed. As I washed, I told him what happened. I was so grateful to him for letting me wash my hands. I left the store being the one with the clean hands, and he remained, being the one with the pure heart. :)

I am touched at your gratitude towards the shop keeper. More than that, I am impressed that you have not blown your gasket about the person who left whatever it was on the hand rail! It is difficult not to.

That was a close shave...I got gum stuck to my trainers once from the road...yuk..had a tough time getting it off . If it was not an expensive one--and not replaceable--I would have dumped it.

Poor show by shop number one - well done shop number two.

Nice story. I couldn't help being directed to the song about clean hands and a pure heart:

@ Padmum: lol "close shave".... you are quick witted Padmum. :)

@ Looney: I have never heard that song before, it is beautiful. In our church we tend to be kind of old fashioned with our hymns, and miss out on many beautiful songs like this.

This is a really old song, but this is the one that I think of when I think of "clean hands and a pure heart" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=duFYcQ9z4B4 You have to wait for the chorus (solo) to hear the phrase. lol

@Delirious, thanks for the link. Being an old timer too, the hymns and choirs bring back some nice memories. That particular hymn sounds like a challenge to do well.
