Morality in Media

I just signed an online petition to agree to help stop the upcoming series on NBC, "The Playboy Club". I hope you will join me in signing the petition, by clicking this link. I also went to the NBC site, and made an account. Then I left a comment in the comment section of this show telling them I won't watch the show, or NBC if they air it. It is demeaning to women, and portrays women as sex objects. Hugh Hefner has made millions of dollars from pornography which is demeaning and harmful to women. I don't want NBC or Hugh Hefner to get even one more penny from exploiting women.

I'm with you on this one, Delirious. If we and more people avoid watching this rubbish they will have no market.

Delirious, gaelikaa: I fear it's more complicated than you make it out to be.

Men do respond to the visual. Not their fault.

More importantly: No one forces any of these women to make a living as a "Bunny". If you think about it: They are GROWN women. Not in slavery. Perfectly capable of making their own choices. Forget Hugh Hefner. The guy tapped into a market, that's all. If anything, it is women who do that type of work who should be questioned why they make themselves into "objects of desire". But that is what women are: Objects of desire.

Sporting a swimsuit and rabbit ears for a few hours a night sure does beat cleaning toilets for a living.

Hey D,

It is a despicable show indeed. There is another one called "Playboy Mansion" (or something like that) that simply displays female shallowness at its best.

I feel for those "bunnies", cause they ignore that the power of women lies not in showing their body off to the entire world.
Not to mention that those giggles they throw, unnerve me.

Oh well...
