On Guard

I was sitting here blogging my friday post when I heard a loud noise in the house. This was definitely not a noise outside, and I am home alone with the dog. My reaction was to say out loud, "What the heck?!", which put my dog on even more alert. She and I both sat listening intently for more noise. Then we both got up to go check it out. I have to admit that I was a little afraid, and took my phone with me. I made sure Sally was right by my side, and even let her go first at times. lol After surveying the house, I sent her to check the outside. It was then that I noticed I had left the dishwasher door open. And then I knew that the sound I heard was probably my cat jumping on the dishwasher door. I put his food up above the sink on the window ledge so that the dog can't reach it. I'm sure that when jumping back down to the floor, he used the dishwasher door as a midway stop. But this sure does make me appreciate my good watch dog!

Do you think Sally would attack anyone if she knew they were an intruder?

I have lived alone for 13 years and from time to time hear a great thump. I have come to recognise it as a bird flying into my fixed window panes, sometimes leaving an outline of the head and wingspan. They are sometimes stunned, but recover quickly.

There's nothing like a good dog to make you feel safer. Even if they don't attack it would still make a person think twice about threatening you. Just them barking is an early warning system. Glad you have her to help you feel safer.

Nene, I've never seen her bite a person before, only bark. But I do think that if someone harmed me, she would attack. Usually she just barks. And her bark is loud!

having a dog always made me feel so much safer (heck even having cats makes me feel a little safer) - i'm glad it was just the cat though. Frankie jumps on the counter and when he gets down his back feet hit the cabinet door and make a banging sound and the first time it really scared me!
