My Brain Runneth Over

Whenever I get too much on my mind, I start to forget things. This week I was oriented in my new position of Relief Society president, and I swear I've had 10,000 things to remember. So, you guessed it, I spaced some of the things. We had a memorial service yesterday, and I had volunteered to make some signs for the pews that said, "Reserved for family". What I imagined I would do is make some very nice ones with a rope on them so that they could be elegantly hung over the end of the pew. But with those other 9,999 things to think about, I totally forgot. When I got to the service, and was asked about the signs, I quickly went in to the library and just wrote on some pieces of paper and taped them to the pews. :S It was okay, but just not what I had imagined I would do. Then tonight I had to go to a meeting, and was asked to bring a handbook, and to ask those coming with me to do the same. I spaced it completely. So all of us ducked our heads when the teacher asked for someone to read out of the book. lol There was one more thing I forgot to do....but, .....erm...I forgot what it was.

It was good to make all the mistakes at the beginning and get them over with. I bet you will soon get on top of things and be super efficient!

I had a boss who could not remember things and left me to attend to things. That helped me to move into his position very quickly! I once presented him with a diary and asked him to write down things to do like all of us did. He simply forgot to maintain the diary.

I forget things when I am over-stressed, too. As you take on more of this assignment you will get more used to it.

Ramana, that only works if you remember to read the diary. :)

When I was RS Pres, I used to carry a small notebook in my purse that was "action items". Things I needed to do right away. It helped. I also have to tell you that I put a sticker of Odie (from Garfield cartoons) on the front. It was to remind me that no matter how stupid Odie is, or rather even how stupid Garfield makes Odie look, that everyone loves him anyway. :0) That helped too, when I screwed up.
