Inspiration

My husband is in charge of arranging the speakers for church for the next 5 months. This is his least favorite assignment. lol Some people joke that they run the other way when they see him coming down the hall. Sometimes he asks people, but they turn down the offer because of fear of public speaking. So this past week he had a difficult time finding someone who was willing to speak, so he asked me if I would. It had been about a year since I last spoke, and I have no fear of public speaking, so I agreed. He often will give the person a subject to speak about, or a conference talk to use when preparing their talk. But when I asked him what he would like me to speak about, he said I could choose the topic. (good husband. :)

I prayed that night to know what topic I should choose. That week I wasn't teaching seminary, so didn't have to get up early. But at 5:15 in the morning one day, my dog woke me up needing to go out. That's unusual for her. I was REALLY tired, but I got up and trudged downstairs and let her out. I waited for her, and then I trudged back upstairs. But in the process my brain began working, and by the time I went back to bed, I knew what I was supposed to speak about. In fact, I had a flood of thoughts come to my mind, including certain stories and passages of scripture. When I later sat down to write it all out, it was just a matter of getting out what was already in my mind.

I sometimes feel that the Holy Spirit works on a sort of radio type frequency. I have many times had the experience that I somehow "tuned in" to a subject during the week, only to find that it was the common theme taught the next Sunday. This experience this week was another to add to my list of "tuning in" experiences. It may not have been entertaining, or even presented well, but I know it was the topic that I was supposed to talk about.

Sounds like quite a duty that your husband has to make such arrangements. You have posted a number of special talks. Do the regular LDS sermons get posted online?

Looney, The talks that are posted online by the church are the ones from our General Conferences. We look at them as being akin to scripture, so we study them often. Most of those talks are given by members of the quorum of the twelve apostles, or other church leaders.
Talks given by members such as me aren't posted online by the church. Although I often feel that some of my blog posts are similar to the talks I have given. lol
Maybe I can post about my talk. :)

Welcome to the world of synchronicity.

Such things keep happening to me all the time.

Ramana, this is far more than synchronicity. Inspiration is different in that it gives you knowledge you didn't have, or guidance you didn't have. It is a blessing that comes from the gift of the Holy Spirit. I have had the kind of experiences you are talking about, but this is something much different! :)
