My Bowl of Energy

I've had some health issues the past month that have slowed me down a bit. It's interesting, but in my mind I came up with a symbol of how I was feeling.

Imagine you are holding a bowl that contains all of the energy that you can use throughout the day. Some things you do throughout the day require more energy than others. Each time you do a task, you pour out a little of the energy from your bowl. As the energy level in your bowl gradually drops, you have to start conserving your energy, and only perform those tasks that are most important. Now, this might not seem like a true symbol, because it seems like even when we are exhausted we can dredge up a little more energy to get us through our daily tasks. But when you have health problems, this symbolism fits perfectly.

Last week I started out the week with a full bowl of energy. But each day I found myself starting out the day with a little less than the day before. I had to really ration my energy carefully, and some things had to be put aside. For example, my poor dog wasn't walked the entire week. Or, if I needed something downstairs, or upstairs, whichever the case may be, I would ask someone else to get it because making the trip up and down used up valuable energy.

Saturday I received some medical treatment and my energy bowl is once again full enough to function. I still have to ration it carefully because I'm not back to the level of being able to run on empty. But wow it feels good to feel better!

I'm so sorry you haven't been feeling your best. Hope you're back to your energetic self soon.

Delirious, I did something similar. I pulled a groin muscle and it was very painful. I imagined a bowl full of pain. It has been going away at its own pace as I refuse to take any medication for it.

it is awful to not have any energy, especially because you still WANT to do all the normal things - I'm so glad you're feeling better!
