God in China

I bought a book online that I started reading, then it got misplaced until today when I picked it back up to read. It is "Finding God in Ancient China. How the Ancient Chinese Worshipped the God of the Bible." (Chan Kei Thong, and Charlene L. Fu)

I was struck by this passage from "The Collected Statutes of the Ming Dynasty":

"Of old in the beginning, there was the great chaos, without form and dark. The five planets had not begun to revolve, nor the two lights to shine. In the midst of it there existed neither form nor sound. You, O spiritual Sovereign, came forth in Your sovereignty, and first did separate the impure from the pure. You made heaven; You made earth; You made man. All things became alive with reproducing power."

It reminds me of the creation accounts in the scriptures:

"IN the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters." Genesis 1:1-2

I'm still reading, and will give you more tidbits as I go along...

I think it is so fascinating how almost all religions have the creation and the savior story in common - and I don't think it's just coincidence.
