Chilean Miners Rescued

As I write this, the "Fenix" capsule is headed back down the shaft to rescue the last trapped miner, Luis Alberto Urzua. He is the group leader, and volunteered to be last to come back up. I say last, but there are still 4 rescuers who need to be brought back up too. But they credit him for great leadership during these past 69 days. I don't know about you, but I don't think I could stay down there 69 minutes without having a panic attack. I'm watching live as the capsule has now arrived in to the mine shaft.

I have to mention too the American company that made this technology possible. Without this help, the miners would probably be down there until Christmas. How gratified they must feel to have had the pleasure of being part of this rescue. They designed the capsule and helped with the drilling.

For me, one of the most touching moments was when a man in his 50's, father of 6 was brought out of the mine. After he hugged his son, he knelt down and gave thanks to God, holding his Bible in the air. How I wish our country was comfortable with those kinds of displays of faith. By the way, that man has been in 3 other mine collapses. If I were his wife, I would have to question his continuing in this profession! lol

What a miracle we have witnessed! Who can doubt but that God had a hand in this rescue? Yes, the men did the work, but God blessed them with the inspiration to know how to do it in a timely manner. And He preserved them through these past months. I have been shocked to see how healthy they all seem! How can anyone doubt that miracles happen today?

I just saw the last rescuer come up. Truly something miraculous indeed! Just thinking what they've been going through, and the families, and everyone watching, makes me a little teary.

I thought that in your country such displays of faith is quite common. Why do you say otherwise?

I agree with you it is a miracle they all are safe and sound and they didn't kill one another or go crazy and that they stayed safe and healthy all that time down in that small space - so thankful for all those that helped rescue those men!
