Paper Cutting

The other day my husband and I were going to his work to box up his office in preparation for them getting new carpet, and decided to stop at a taqueria on the way to grab some lunch to take with us. This particular taqueria is inside a mexican grocery store. As we were waiting for the food, I noticed mexican paper cuttings hanging all around the store. They were really beautiful and were nice bright colors. I was thinking that I wouldn't mind something like that to decorate with! Below is a white one that I'm assuming was used as decoration for the "Dia de los muertos". You may not like skeletons, but isn't the paper cutting cool?















When we lived in China, I used to buy paper cuttings a lot to send in birthday cards, or to make cards out of. I still have some that I occasionally use. The Asians really have a talent for this art. Isn't the one below amazing?




















Today my husband and I stopped at the library to return a book and see if he could find a new one to read. He is going to Scout camp this week, and wanted some reading material. I was browsing a little, but not seriously because I already have several books I'm reading right now. But as I was walking down the aisle of new books, I saw one they had set up on an easel for decoration. It is a book of 13 paper cutting projects! I grabbed it! lol This is such a fascinating art to me, and I want to try some of these projects. I'm really looking forward to doing some of these projects because they are beautiful. I'll try to post pictures if they turn out good. :)
