Cyber Support Group

My friend Jeff at "Spoiling Dinner" has been writing about his struggle to lose weight and get in shape. I have to say that it's really motivating for me to read his blog! Maybe in some weird way, it's like having a cyber support group. lol I have to say that just discussing the subject on his blog has made me think more about what I eat. I haven't necessarily done anything else except think though....

Remember my neighbor who asked if I was pregnant? Well, I guess she thought she would take it upon herself to make sure I lost weight. She called up tonight and asked if I wanted to go walking with her twice a week. I told her I would be happy to, and my dog would like that. I told her that I walk my dog every morning, for 45-60 minutes. She was shocked! I told her my route. Half of my route is uphill. I live in a steep hill, so half of my walk is a long walk uphill to come back home. When I told her where I walk, she told me she isn't in good enough shape to walk that route. I have to admit that I gloated a little that she thinks I'm so heavy, but I'm in better shape than her. meow....

But back to my friend's blog. I'm interested to see how he does. I actually know him in person, having been in the same Ward at church. He got a degree in nutrition from UC Berkeley, so one would think he should be successful. He probably does what I do though. He eats the healthy stuff, then eats the junk. Actually, I think that both of us just need portion control. This is motivating to me though...wish me luck!

I shall shortly visit your friend's blog as I am equally interested. Both my hip joints have been replaced and revised so, to avoid re-revision, I need to use them sparingly and so walking as an exercise is out for me. I use various other methods and may be your friend's blog will help me further.

I am evil and loved the part about you being able to outwalk your neighbor. Ahh, payback! :0)

But I am with you on getting in shape. I think I'll check out your friend's blog too. Thanks!

LOL that cracked me up too - sometimes skinny people are less healthy than the fat ones. As for portion control I read this tip in a magazine once to use a smaller plate (like maybe a bread plate or dessert plate) to eat your dinner off of, it's a way of tricking your brain into thinking it's eating alot when really you're eating less food.

Haha...I love it!! (The part about you being more "fit" than your "skinny" neigbhbor/friend.) There are so many reasons that we hang on to more weight than we should - and the amount of exercise is only one facet. Keep it up!
