Spring Has Sprung

Spring has definitely sprung here in Northern California. It is so green here right now that I feel like we live in "Teletubbie" land. I used to always think Ireland would be this green, so Nene will have to tell me. I decided I needed to get out and take some pictures before the grass turns brown. It's amazing that the regional park is only about 5 minutes from my house, but even though I live in the city, there are so many wild animals in the park. March came in like a lion this year, so I wanted to take advantage of a break in the rain to get some pictures. I loved the light on the water in the duck picture. The wildflowers are in bloom, and many fields are fully yellow with blossoms.

I ran across this egret, who didn't seem the least bit afraid of me. He stood about 6-7' away from me and didn't seem the least bit concerned. I kept thinking if I inched my way in closer he would fly and I would get some pictures of him in flight, but he wouldn't budge, and I didn't have the heart to scare him. ;) About 3 feet away from him was a hummingbird sitting quietly on a limb. I was thinking, "Did all of the animals decide to sit still and pose for me today?"

I was walking along and saw this coyote making his way up the hill. I stopped to look at some geese waddling in front of me and suddenly saw another coyote following the same path. I have to say that these coyotes look much healthier than ones I've seen in years past. Their coats look healthier, and they are much fatter.

That's gorgeous! I'm so jealous that you get this, and I still have a foot of ice in my yard! (It rained and snowed yesterday- icy mess!)

I told my husband when we moved to Ireland that it was so green here that I almost needed to put on my sunglasses even if the sun wasn't shining. When the sun is shining it's even greener. It looks pretty green in those pictures though. If the trees were in bloom and there were more flowers, it would look more like Ireland. EVERY SINGLE house you drive by -whether it's a house, apartment, condo, duplex, etc - has flowers in the yard, either planted or tons of flower pots, hanging pots and window boxes.

My word verification is:
"omingsh" Oh mine gosh!

Nice pictures! The coyote must look so well because all the other wildlife is sitting still. :0)

oh thank you for sharing these gorgeous pictures!!! I am so envious of those beautiful hills you go walking in, they are simply gorgeous, the trees almost look pink in that sunlight, and the egret is so beautiful, I can't wait until it starts turning green here! :D

Really lovely photos D - did you take all of them? Some of them are quite prize-worthy.

Thanks Bunc, yes I did take these. I'm not really a knowledgeable photographer, and I don't know anything about photoshop, so I'm sort of a point and click kind of girl.
