Waters Flowing

So I had two experiences with water today. One good, one bad.

Experience one:
I was walking the dog down the main street in our city, and noticed this man on the other side. He had a big jacket on, and a red handkerchief on his head. He was carrying a sack of groceries or something. My dog immediately keyed in on him and wouldn't take her eyes off him. I tend to believe my dog, and that put my radar up. She is very astute about people's body language, and usually has good instincts. Even after we had passed him by, she kept turning around to keep an eye on him. Suddenly I looked up and could see that he was standing with his back to the road relieving his "waters". Did he grow up in the jungle or something? Don't people know that we don't do that in civilized societies. I mean, if you are in the woods, that's one thing, but if you are walking down a major busy street, it's just not appropriate.

Experience two:
I went to pick up my youngest son from school and saw that it was raining outside. As I was driving down the street, I saw a little boy walking backward in the gutter. There was a big stream of water in the gutter. He was kicking up as much water as he possibly could! His feet and pants were DRENCHED! The mother in me cringed, but the kid in me wanted to cheer him on. :)

The first one is a much more common sight in Japan.

I hate to say this, but in my city in the States, I've driven down the main Interstate that goes through and often have seen men pulled over to the side of the road relieving themselves. I said to my husband after we passed one guy, "Does he think we're stupid and don't know what he's doing?" My husband replied, "He doesn't care." I have also seen that here in Ireland.

I honked once when a guy started doing that so he would know we saw him. Dee Ice cringed, so I don't do that any more. :0)

The ones that do that on the interstate are sure you don't know them and will never see them again.

I used to love playing in the gutter puddles when I was little - it's still fun if the water isn't too cold! :)
