Oakland Temple Photo Trip

I will freely admit that I am a person who doesn't like change. My son commented today that he bets that when he comes home from his mission in two years, our house will look exactly the same as it does now. But knowing I don't like change doesn't change the fact that I just don't think this new creche exhibit at the temple is as good as the old one. The old one was colorful, and it had more pieces to it. It even had camels! Okay, I just did a search and came up with this picture showing the old creche. Below it is a picture of the new one. You can judge for yourself. Still, the lights are pretty, so I encourage you, if you live in the Bay area, to make your way to Temple Hill this December. There are also many live musical performances that are free. There is also a modern dance performance. The visitor's center has a list of free performances.

The Oakland temple sits on the most prime property in the city. On a clear day, you can see all the way to the Golden Gate bridge. Below are two pictures I took from the temple grounds, including one that shows both the Bay bridge, and the Golden Gate bridge.

At least they are still using the same stable setup. My youngest brother made that for his eagle project. :)

I wonder if all the temples are going to that creche? That white one is the one we have (in NM) also.

Hi D!

Change is good, girl (it keeps the energies flowing)!

But in this case you are right: the first one is more beautiful than the second - so, this change was unnecessary.

Cheers

I agree the old one does look more lively and interesting! maybe they were going for more of a simple - minimalistic version
