Scraps

Over the years, my journal has become as much of a scrapbook as it is a journal. I often paste cartoons or articles, pictures, tickets stubs etc. in to it. I have kept alot of lists over the years too, such as books I've read, kids names I like, pet names I like :), names of people I've done temple work for. One thing I also do alot is write quotes or poems that I like. As I was searching my journal for the poem I posted, I ran across alot of good quotes and thought I would share a few of these little "scraps" with you.

This one I copied from one of my grandmother's books:

On Cleaning the Attic by Richard Armour

I can pack things, I can stack things,
I can toss things in a heap;
I can lift things, I can shift things,
I can hurdle things knee deep.

I can pile things, I can file things
I can move things all the day.
I can dust things, I can bust things,
But I can't throw things away.

I don't know the author on these three:

"There is no chance, no fate, no destiny, that can circumvent, hinder or control the firm resolve of a determined soul."

"Man longs for immortal loyalites and imperishable deeds, but lives out most of his years trying to learn how not to reach for more than he can grasp or to bite off more than he can chew."

"You will become as small as your controlling desire; As great as your dominant aspiration."

"Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds." Albert Einstein

"God doth sell us all good things at the price of labor." Leonardo De Vinci

These are good quotes. When I was little we had this ginormous dictionary that had quotes and names in the back of it, I used to read those all the time. You should post some of your favorite baby names, I love hearing what people like :)
