Green Chili Fever

Tonight I was watching Bobbie Flay do a cookoff with a man who makes green chili cheeseburgers. By the end of the show, my mouth was watering so much, we decided to go out and try to find a cheeseburger. We kind of wandered around, and ended up going to Wendy's. Bleh.... No green chili.....it just didn't satisfy my craving.

Here is what I really liked about the way they made the burgers. The guy who won the cookoff roasted the green chilis, then skinned them and chopped them up. Then he actually put the green chili salsa right on to the flat grill and cooked it again before putting it on the burger! Bobbie Flay put vinegar and honey in his green chili salsa. I'm not sure if the other guy did or not. I think Bobbie Flay made his mistake in making a parmesan cheese sauce instead of just using regular cheese on his burger. He did put blue tortilla chips on his, which they said gave it a nice crunch. Are you salivating yet?

I might just have to try making my own this weekend. I watched them do it. I may not be able to make it as perfect as their's, but I think I can come pretty close! I know Nene will be upset at me for making her hungry, but I also know she is coming back to the states soon and will be able to get a good green chili burger; better than I could get here. ;)

In ABQ, you can ask for green chile to be added to your hamburger (or anything for that matter)at ANY restaurant or fast food place. :0) One crucial key though: Make sure you have THOROUGHLY drained your green chiles or else they will make your hamburger very soggy. Maybe that is why the guy fried them before adding them, to fry out the excess moisture.

Well, I am not quite dying for a burger yet, given what I have been eating ... but maybe another week. ;-)

I have to admit, I have never had green chile on anything. I must not have lived in Texas long enough. :0)

Wow, the blessings of blogging...I never even thought about getting revenge on Looney from his dumpling pictures, but this might just do the trick! lol Maybe I should have shown a big slab of cheese or something. :)

When I lived in Taipei, there was this hamburger place, it was the only one at the time, that served good burgers, and fries. The problem was that the fries were made from sweet potatoes. :)
