I talked to my mother on the phone today. She is in the hospital awaiting surgery for a cancerous polyp in her colon. I'm encouraged because she said the polyp is small, and she won't have to have a colostomy. We talked about how Inklings said she is considering taking my father and driving the 100 miles from his house to see my mother. I told my mother that they were thinking about making the trip. She said, "Oh they don't need to come down here. Tell them to stay home." I said, "Well the doctor said that you could use the moral support." She said, "Oh, I'm moral enough, tell them to stay home." ;) She may not need the moral support, but I think my Dad does, so I'm glad they are going.
By the way, the other day I called my mother when she was in a hospital in a smaller town. We talked for about 20 minutes, then as we were talking a relative who works at the hospital walked past and my Mom said, "She just told me to get back in bed." I said, "You are out of bed?!!!" She said, "I have to be." I asked why and she said, "I had to get up to answer the phone. It is across the room from my bed." WHAT??!!!! I'm glad my mother has been transferred to another hospital if for no other reason than that she doesn't have to get out of bed to answer the phone!! Not to mention that her specialist doctor told her he thought that the colonoscopy she received in the other hospital was probably the first one done by that doctor in his career. That could be why he didn't find the polyp. I'm so thankful she is getting competent care now!! I have prayed that the doctor would keep her foremost in his mind. I don't think the first doctor was capable of that, but this specialist has really moved ahead quickly, and I feel like he is the way the Lord has answered my prayer.
