April Fools Success

I'm not sure why I'm so obsessed with April Fool's Day. Maybe it's because it only comes once a year, and I'm expected to act mature and grown up the other 364 days, so this is my only outlet. Anyway, here are some things I was able to pull today.

--For the first time in months, all of my students except one came on time to seminary. But as we got started I said, "I know you all came on time today, but I decided that in the future, since you have come late so many times, we are going to hold class until 7:30 instead of 7:20, to make up for the time you missed.". Everyone had a sort of guilty look on their face. When I imagined how I would do this prank, I imagined that one girl in particular would get upset and protest. I was right, she did. It was almost like living out a dream, it played exactly like I thought it would. She started to protest, so I looked her in the eye, called her by name, and said very calmly, "April fools". I believe her reply was something like, "You stink". lol I got them.

--One student came about 10 minutes late. As she was just sitting down I said, "Oh, I was telling the rest of the class that I am starting something new. In the future, if you are late to class, then you will have to come on Saturday to make up the time you missed during the week." She started to pout and whine until I said, "April fools!" . hee hee hee

--I took my papers over to the DUP captain's house. I hid them behind the wall near her front door and rang the doorbell. She answered the door and invited me in, but I said, "Well, I just wanted to bring by the lesson manual because these membership papers are just so complicated to fill out. So I thought I should just bring you the manual." She said, "Oh, I really wish you would fill them out, I can help you. Come in." I reached around the wall and grabbed my papers and said, "April fools, here are my papers filled out!". I think her response was, "You brat.". lol I have to admit I'm glad to have that done, that has been weighing on me for a long time now.

I didn't play any jokes today. I'm lame, I know. :)

I didn't play any April Fool's jokes today, but I remember what joke I played on my Seminary class. There was some question as to when the seniors would get out for the year. They usually get out earlier than the other students. So that day I told them the decision was that they had to finish out the last 2 weeks with the other kids! It was so funny to see the expressions on their faces. And what was funny, was about a week later they came in and actually told us that the seniors would graduate from Seminary the last Sunday in April, but they WOULD have to come back the next week to finish and they wouldn't actually give them their Seminary diplomas until that Friday. They had to have graduation early because of fast Sunday and Mother's day Sunday. Turned out, our Seminary supervisor went in and argued with the Stake Pres and told them none of those kids would come after Seminary graduation, so it ended up we got out 3 weeks earlier than anyone else!
