Life is Like a Box of Chocolates

Some years back, my husband was traveling with our boys in California gold country and happened upon a "Mom and Pop" chocolate shop. There was actually an elderly couple who ran it, and they hand dipped the chocolates themselves. My husband talked to them about their business, and bought some chocolates to bring home.

My husband became very enthused about the idea of having a chocolate store. He began to talk to us about the idea of starting up our own family business of hand dipping chocolates. We were looking ahead to college and mission expenses, and he thought this would be a great way to make money. I'm not sure why we never followed through with this dream. It may have been that we were just too busy to pursue it, or that only he was in love with the idea.

The dream of owning a chocolate store died, but my husband's love affair with chocolate shops has continued. Whenever he travels, he always seems to stop and buy hand made chocolates. When he came back from France, he also brought chocolates. This week he traveled to Buffalo, New York, and, you guessed it, he brought back a box of hand dipped candy. The store he bought from is called Josh Early Candies, "Chocolates made fresh".

I hope you don't think I'm complaining about this tradition of his. There are times when no other food can take the place of chocolate. And in addition, just think, he could have had a love of something like dried fruit, and frankly, that just doesn't do it for me. :)

I think it's a neat tradition. If you ever need any from the Bluebird or Alvey's, let me know. :)

Also...If you think you might want to own a business, I think you should work in that industry first.
So maybe you and he could get 4 am jobs there, a few times a week. It might really be fun. Do you know that decorating donuts is really fun?
