21 and Legal

My oldest child turned 21 this week. Even though she isn't a blog fan, I thought I would still write 21 things about her in honor of her 21st birthday.

1. She came in to the world early by c-section because she was "frank breech".
2. By the time she was 18 months old she could say over 100 words.
3. When she was 4 1/2 she broke her leg sledding.
4. Probably her strongest personality trait is her tenacity.
5. When she was 5, we lived in China and the international school had already met its quota of students, so I had to home school her for kindergarten. At the end of her first grade year, I told the teacher that she had skipped kindergarten and she told me she would never have guessed she didn't go to kindergarten.
6. She was always able to stay focused on her tasks, so the teachers would sit her next to the most disruptive students because they knew those students wouldn't be able to distract her.
7. She has a very good sense of humor and always makes people laugh.
8. She learned to play the saxophone starting in 4th grade, but gave it up after 6th grade.
9. Although she is very petite, she can hold her own with her 3 brothers.
10. She was always good at video games and table games. We teased her that she wouldn't get any dates because she could beat most boys at any game.
11. In high school she worked for the school television station as a reporter, and also doing filming/editing.
12. She has always been very responsible, and I always knew she would do whatever task I gave her.
13. Our last cat preferred her over every other family member.
14. She graduated with honors, and received some scholarships for college.
15. She is majoring in media arts; film.
16. She has worked to support herself during her schooling. She presently works at the missionary training center giving service work assignments (cleaning) to the missionaries.
17. She was able to spend 8 weeks in Jerusalem at the BYU center there.
18. She surprised her parents by secretly taking chinese at BYU. (she didn't learn chinese while we lived in China)
19. As part of a scholarship that she received, she gave back service hours to other students of BYU. She helped students with disabilities.
20. When she was little, she was so pretty that strangers would stop us wherever we went to tell us how pretty she was. She is still very pretty.
21. She is very smart, but also makes wise decisions.
We are proud of the kind of person she has become!

Oh to be 21 again. Where does the time go? I'm not old, but I'm certainly not getting any younger, ha! Very interesting facts, hope she has/had a great birthday!
