The Verdict is In

Caution: Do not read this post if you are eating something, or if you have a squeemish stomach.

Well, my doctor called today with the results of my biopsy. The results are just what we expected they would be. The cyst on the left side of my neck, the one he drained (sorry for the gorey details) came back as "non diagnosable". He expected that because all he gave them was cyst fluid. That is the result he expected, and is good. The cyst on the right side came back as benign. I expected these results too because I have a strong family history of these benign cysts. I'm supposed to go back in a couple of months and have another ultrasound done. In particular, he wants to see if the cyst that he drained has filled back up. So for now, we will just watch them unless I develop some other symptom such as pain when swallowing. I like watching it instead of automatically doing surgery because it gives God a chance to step in and heal it if it is His will. It is still possible that in the future I will need to have surgery, but I would like to go as long as possible without having to take thyroid replacement medicine. I feel blessed to have a doctor whose view is the same as mine. Life is good!

I'm glad you are okay. I figured you were, because my sister-in-law, who has had cancer several times, says if the results are malignant you always hear within 24 hours.
