Smoke Gets in Your Eyes

As we were driving back to California from Utah yesterday, my husband got a phone call from a coworker asking if we could see the smoke from the fires. We hadn't heard anything about the wildfires in California. After he hung up the phone, we both noticed that there was some smoke near the mountains. At this point we were at least 200 miles from the Nevada/ California border, maybe even further! The closer we got, the thicker the smoke. The most smoke was while we were driving over the Sierras. At one point I looked out over the valley, but all I could see was smoke. Here at home we have alot of smoke too. Last night we had some breezes from the Delta that blew out some of the smoke, but the air still smells strongly of it. We really need to help pray for the firefighters to be able to get these under control, and to be kept safe.

Is that the fire that Dee Ice Hole is at?

I heard there are many fires here....something like 800, all caused by lightening. Not sure where Dee Ice is.

I just drove up from San Diego. It was clear there, but after escaping the LA smog passing over Tejon pass, the smoke was with us all up the Mojave and eastern Sierras.

My parents were just at scout camp in the Sierras this week and commented on it. I hope the fires get put out soon!
