You Cut, I Choose

A speaker in church today told how when his kids were young, they would make giant cookies together. The cookies were too big for one person to eat, so they would give the kids a butter knife, and have one child cut, and the other got the chance to choose which half they wanted. Of course, most kids by nature will choose the bigger half. As I thought about this story, I began to wonder what this world would be like if we all allowed the other person the bigger half in life.

If we acted that way with life, most people would begin to take advantage. Most people will let you do as much for them as you possibly can, so it's good to have a backbone and be able to stand up for yourself if necessary.

My solution is cut it as close to perfectly in half as possible, then everyone is happy. That's what I get for growing up with four brothers and a sister who all love to eat...

i would let the other person have the big half and then give away the other half to someone else, out of the blue, just to surprise them with joy. because i prefer someone else's joy to a cookie half anyway...

hmm yeah i agree with weaver, they would either take advantage , or grow to learn that they always get the bigger peice and when they didnt would fight for it.
I personally would eat the whole thing and tell them to get their own cookie, my method would never let the who got the biggest peice argument start. ;)

I like Jon's response...this was more along the lines of what I was thinking when I wrote this post.
