Eagle Scout Project

Last week was spring break for my kids. But it wasn't much of a vacation for them. My oldest son is about ready to turn 18, so he needed to finish up his Eagle Scout project. He talked to the volunteer services with the parks department, and they requested that he put in some horseshoe pits. Sounded easy enough, but it turned out to be a full week worth of work. In total they put in 4 horseshoe pits with backstops. My son asked friends and fellow scouts to help him, and my husband also took off several days from work so that he could help. I don't have a picture of the completed project yet, but am waiting for my son to give me one. I believe the Scouts would like an Eagle project to take 100 hours worth of volunteer service, but this one took over 200. It was a lot of work, but I think the young men enjoyed the sense of accomplishment, and learned through the process.

Oh, those hills made me so homesick! I miss the rolling hills with the beautiful California Oaks.

I've been invited to a horseshoe tournament at the end of this month, but I won't be able to participate because of my stupid back.
