I agree that what Fox reports shouldn't be silenced, but if you were president, and you were going to be interviewed by several reporters from different networks, and one showed up carrying a picketing sign protesting against your administration, would you let him interview you?

The news should report. They can report whatever they want, but when they start actively organizing and sponsoring protests (regardless of my political alignment with those protests), I am not one to judge the government for treating them a little less favorably than when they simply report facts.

Having observed the way my father ran a very influential, responsible and successful newspaper for over a decade, I believe that the news and press have an important right and responsibility to report anything and everything the people need to know. However, the press also has to be responsible enough to know that if they take actions that are considered offensive to the local entities (government, business or otherwise) they report on, they will be met with resistance.

I'm not saying either side is right or wrong, I'm just saying that none of this feels like the government is trying to prevent Fox from doing their job as a media outlet. It doesn't seem like anything anyone should be upset about.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27352415.post-58713313036290019232009-11-03T11:33:01.263-08:002009-11-03T11:33:01.263-08:00I already knew about these protests, but I still t...I already knew about these protests, but I still think that Fox IS news, and I think that what they have done to organize protests is new, but it doesn't make it wrong. These people are just crying "sour grapes" because they are the liberal media and want to quiet the conservative voices. We conservatives don't have much voice in the media any more. Most of those Tea parties weren't covered at all by the liberal media. Fox still presents the news, just adds their own twist. That shouldn't be silenced.Delirioushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01564398770468606675noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27352415.post-16295296699539392372009-11-03T06:28:44.475-08:002009-11-03T06:28:44.475-08:00You didn't watch the video. It has nothing to do with the reporting that Fox does, the whole problem lies in ACTIONS that Fox News is taking. Literally EVERYONE I have talked to says how much they love those 2 men and can't understand why I don't. Even members of our church - EVERYONE! I said to one lady that she doesn't realize it, but she is brainwashed by the media. She can't be in the US to see the real thing, so she has to rely solely on the media, which twists everything to make these men look great. She couldn't believe what I told her. I'm not sure she did believe me.Nenehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13847303868378288229noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27352415.post-15695171262466808212009-11-02T20:42:18.155-08:002009-11-02T20:42:18.155-08:00I didn't vote for Obama... but can I vote to s...I didn't vote for Obama... but can I vote to send him to China? :)Christinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15889595435203158361noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27352415.post-3682521185179961172009-11-02T19:19:33.849-08:002009-11-02T19:19:33.849-08:00It really doesn't matter to me what Fox news r...It really doesn't matter to me what Fox news reports. I actually don't even watch their show. What matters to me is that they should be allowed freedom of speech. When the government starts to control that, we lose one of our most valuable civil rights.Delirioushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01564398770468606675noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27352415.post-67405463588804308012009-11-02T19:08:45.630-08:002009-11-02T19:08:45.630-08:00While, in all fairness, I haven't yet read the...While, in all fairness, I haven't yet read the article on NPR, you should check out this video and see if it alters your perspective on Fox News at all.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
