Within India, there are a thousand cultures and each shift involved adjustments to local realities and in retrospect, I believe that those experiences made us more tolerant and compassionate.Rummuserhttp://www.rummuser.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27352415.post-41894730366742529912011-09-02T21:50:51.552-07:002011-09-02T21:50:51.552-07:00I can't remember how it was when I returned ho...I can't remember how it was when I returned home to NZ after a 8 year sojourn overseas as I was quite young when I went away and I came home with a now ex-DH in tow...and my last parent finally succumbed on that journey home (she had been ill for well over a year).

I didn't have a language problem as I had been English speaking countries but there were pecularities of "words" used for things...I still call a "chilly bin" and "esky"Catherine - Mixed Media Artist https://www.blogger.com/profile/00078469979235492814noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27352415.post-47047789358952583932011-09-02T15:59:28.739-07:002011-09-02T15:59:28.739-07:00Funny, but your wonderful post brought back a memo...Funny, but your wonderful post brought back a memory of returning home to the US from Germany where we had lived for a year. Our first stop was at a restaurant (IHOP) for breakfast. I had become used to paying cup by cup in Frankfurt, so when the waitress set a whole pot of coffee on the table and walked away, I knew I was home.Mariahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06372751543635560383noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27352415.post-91991134253425667072011-09-02T09:40:36.789-07:002011-09-02T09:40:36.789-07:00Actually, Taiwanese is a completely different dial...Actually, Taiwanese is a completely different dialect with some slight grammar differences, and totally different pronounciation. I know it took me over 6 months to feel "at home" in the US again. And I still have to have a weather widget and a clock widget for Dublin on my computer. It's comforting to me to get on my computer and see what time it is in Dublin and what the temperature is and if it's raining or not. :0)Nenehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13847303868378288229noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27352415.post-34757774587142655652011-09-01T13:35:46.278-07:002011-09-01T13:35:46.278-07:00Coming home is strange.
