Generation Gap

Tonight my son was watching a new series called "Hell on Wheels". Here is the conversation we had:
Me: What kind of a show is this?
Him: It's set in the time just after the civil war.
Me, (Thinking about the horror show "Walking Dead" he likes) "Is it a horror show?"
Him: No, you will see...
Me: Is it a Western?
Him: No, it's not a Western.
Me: Is it a Science Fiction show?
Him: You will see. .... Okay, well, they are going out west, and Indians come.
Me: Um.....That is a Western.
Him: (With odd look in his eye.) Oh....

lol what did you see?
When I look at it, it shows a clothing ad, and a women's padded shorts ad. (I'm assuming for cycling)
It changes all the time.

Well, I went back to look at it and it had changed. It had a girl with sunglasses on. Something about fiver.... and it was $5. I don't know, it was a bit suggestive, but maybe it was just an advertising gimick. :0P If I see it again, I'll write it down.

I'll probably take the ads off because I don't think they really do any good for me.

I remember having those conversations with Elly when she was younger, mind you at times when I visit her I still hear myself saying the same thing!

Delirious, I gave up discussions on movies, music and other important matters with my son when he turned twenty. I dare not comment on his taste or his observations on mine!

Hi D,

I remember that Generation Gap was a study, included in my High School English program - I have experienced it with a teen cousin of mine who one day had the following convo with me:

Moi: *listening to music*...
Cousin: What are you listening to?
Moi: To the Supremes.
Cousin: what's that?
Moi: *shocked*...

I never thought that I'd have a family member who ignores whom the Supremes are - shocking! But this is more than a Generation Gap, I view it as lack of culture too...*nodding*.

Cheers
